Why is creating files so important? Look at it as a way of adding your 'teachers voice' to the course, a way of giving instructions when you aren't face to face. These files open inside
WebCT and are much more friendly than using Word files. When the first item in a Learning Module or folder is a word file, the first thing the students sees is a dialog box asking if they want to open or save - this can often be confusing for the student. If you need to load a file as the first thing in a learning module - use a PDF (the new Office 2007 has an options to save as a PDF - terrific - or you can use
CutePDF writer).
We (the Flexible Learning team) are trialling a new product at the moment which means we can create really professional html pages from a Word document. As well as this we can create quizzes, pop ups and other exciting things from within Word. Keep your eyes and ears open for more information on 'Wimba Create'.
http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Guide/Overview.html∞ - nice little site about writing HTML - you can pluck bits and pieces out of here to use in the HTML Creater - change background colors etc. I have no experience with using HTML at all but found this quite simple to copy and paste different bits.
