Why is creating files so important? Look at it as a way of adding your 'teachers voice' to the course, a way of giving instructions when you aren't face to face. These files open inside WebCT and are much more friendly than using Word files. When the first item in a Learning Module or folder is a word file, the first thing the students sees is a dialog box asking if they want to open or save - this can often be confusing for the student. If you need to load a file as the first thing in a learning module - use a PDF (the new Office 2007 has an options to save as a PDF - terrific - or you can use CutePDF writer).

We (the Flexible Learning team) are trialling a new product at the moment which means we can create really professional html pages from a Word document.
